Unlike others ive tried this one handles the pump kicking off and on just fineThis timer was one of the more inexpensive that I located on Amazon, but also had decent reviews. This is another of the good reviews. Very easy to install (hang on screw and plug in). The timer is easy to use and I keep the manual in the cover that closes (although it's so easy I doubt I'll need it). The timer is easy to set by pulling all the tabs up and then pressing down on the ones that correspond to the desired run time. Highly recommended. So far, so good. I like the fact that the power cord is a little longer than others brands.I was very hesitant to buy timers online but after waiting until the holiday crunch and finding nothing suitable in the stores, I had no other choice. I read a lot of reviews about a lot of outdoor timers before choosing this one even though some reviewers liked it and others didn't. I just crossed my fingers and hoped I would be one of the buyers with a positive experience. I made my selection based on this timer's price, because it had two outlets for plugs and it had a cover over the timer. We used the timer outside, at the edge of a covered porch to light up holiday decorations. The timer's location pretty much ensured that it was exposed to the winter weather and got a "bonus" of being rained and snowed on. It was a cold winter and the timer worked without a problem. Although I chose the timer my spouse got stuck figuring out how so set it--for us it wasn't straightforward, but if we were totally honest, the problem would have been user inexperience rather than timer design. The timer probably won't get used again until next winter, so I can't comment on durability. I would be quite disappointed if all I got for the price was one winter, but you never know with timers. For the time being it worked well.Love the programmability on this. No crazy digital voodoo required. Lift up all the outer rim "buttons" and then push down the ones where you want the equipment to kick on. I'm using ours for our pool pump as our prior one almost required me to go out daily and kick it on (usually about bed time) - and it was forgotten more often than not. This one keeps time as long as the power is on - and how often does your power REALLY go out and cause an issue?? It's a joy watching the pump kick on for about 30 minutes every 3 hours to keep things tidied up - but doing the heavy filtering overnight while power usage is low. Great knowing that the pool is not going to end up green because I forgot to run out there and kick the thing on manually - or leave it running all day and incur the wrath of "Power-Nazi Wife" when she notices it still running...Only complaint is the cord IS pretty short - like maybe a foot long. Is it a show stopper? No, but doesn't make for very convenient mounting when plugged into a normal height power outlet - it's going to be about knee height :( Does have two mounting holes in back though, so should be solid when mounted.Works like it should. Short cord is limiting, but they all had short cords. It works great for our swimming pool pump. I set it to run it and don’t have to bother with it each day. This seems to be a good timer. I haven't had it real long so these are just initial impressions. It has two outlets, which is nice near a pool, though I only need one. The timer has integrated pins so I don't have to worry about losing pins like I did with my last timer. My only complaint is that the gray vs white contrast is pretty poor, making it difficult for me, with poor eyesight, to tell what the numbers are ont he dial. I did remove one star for that, as I need to get help or use a magnifying app to set the time and pins. The product would get a full endorsement from me if the mechanical system in charge of timer's only function hadn't failed in under 2 months. An entire section of the time dial is too resistive to actuate. I basically cannot trust the device to continue "timing" past 1800hrs. 100% useless in short order. Thanks for nothing.I bought this timer to use with my block heater because I could set a schedule rather than leave it plugged in all the time. I am noticing that the timer does not keep time when it’s cold out. For the past week or so it’s been between -20 and -30C in northern Alberta and the timer has not worked. I thought it I had it set wrong so I tried it out in my heated garage and it worked as advertised. I am disappointed and would not recommend this product as it cannot handle colder temperatures.Do not buy!!! This timer completely stops working in -20 degree weather. Totally unacceptable for an outdoor timer that I want to use for my block heater. The return window is only 30 days and there's no customer service. Waste of moneyHas the capacity to work as a blockheater timer. Works great to about -25C, once it gets colder, the mechanism can't keep time anymore. It loses hours per 24 h. In a couple of days it was off by almost 12 hours, so now I check what time it's showing every time I'm in the garage, and adjust as necessary. Still it's better than most of the timers sold, which don't work past -10C [or late fall]. Wonder if it will work at all if it gets to -40.So sad my old metal Mastercraft [no longer available] kacked after 20 years. :{Nice timer with many options to configure when you want it on and off. However, I have a couple of these and one of them doesn't keep time any more, so that particular unit really sucks as a timer now. To be more specific, if you set the time in the evening, it loses about an hour by the time morning comes around. The other one works great though.I use these to turn on/off Christmas lights.
