Given the very low cost, I was pleasantly surprised how well constructed and designed this timer is once I received it and tested it. Some reviews said their's was damaged by water getting inside, just make sure your rubber gasket around the battery cover is clean and in place correctly and you shouldn't have a problem, unless of course you get a defective unit. Also only hand tighten both ends (don't use tools or over tighten) of the hose fittings so you dont crack or damage the timer's fittings which is likely problems other users ran into. This water timer feels and looks well made. It has a lot of key features you wouldn't expect in a timer for under $20 (currently I paid $18 for each). The manual is straight forward but brief which can be challenging for some, but once you spend time learning things it's super simple to program. Another thing is it uses military time (24 hrs) so there's no AM or PM to set. It has a real nice rubber gasket to protect the batteries from getting wet. The screen is large and easy to see outside in the sunlight. The screen goes blank after 20 or 30 seconds to save on battery power (just press the OK key to turn the screen on). I haven't tested the rain sensor but it looks well made and not cheap looking. There are so many thinks I like about this timer! For me the best feature is the 6 independent program settings (P1 thru P6). These 6 programs are real handy when you want to water at different times of a certain day for different lengths of time in that day. I was so impressed with everything about this timer that after only one day I purchased a second one!I plan to update this review in about a month so I'll have more time to test it out. I'm pretty sure this timer will surpass my expectations and so I feel confident to say it's a REAL GEM or bargain especially at this low price!
