When first plugged in acted like DOA. Contacted supplier and received very complete instructions to connect internal wires, a straightforward process but did require removing base of unit. The wires from the internal transformer needed to be connected to the power switch. The internal transformer boosts 120VAC to 220VAC, the motor's voltage. In other words, the mixer was designed to run on 220VAC and to make it a 120VAC product a transformer is installed to change the 120VAC line power to 220VAC for the motor. I also added a wire to get proper green wire ground connection to the metal chassis. The original connection was over the painted frame. The powder coated paint quality is excellent and thick and I removed it to get metal to metal ground wire contact with the face of the ground wire. I also tightened the power belt, it was much looser than is customary for such belts and there was enough adjustment range to make substantial improvement. I also rerouted wires with more tie-wraps to make certain that the wires were not hear moving parts. There is a loose plastic sleeve around the rotor shaft that appears to have no purpose other than to keep power wires from contacting the rotating shaft. After routing wires and securing with tie wraps I removed that extraneous sleeve to keep it from possibly wearing or tearing and causing problems later. The mixer spins smoothly. The countdown timer is accurate and easy to set and the display is easy to read. Mixing performance is excellent. The rotor spins without vibration. The belts look like they will be easy to replace when that time comes. I also see that the pulleys are easily accessibly so that I can replace them in the future is I decide to increase the speed by changing the speed. The motor easy easily accessible after removing the base plate so that I can put in a variable speed motor and controller if I decide that needs to be done to have programable mixer. The mechanism and housing seems to be excellent. I removed the handles because their bolts and inside nuts would contact the rotor. I am inclined to leave the handle off but if I decide to put them back I will just put some washers on the outside to space the handles out so that the bolts and nuts on the inside are safely away from the rotor. I like this unit as it comes (after connecting and routing wires) and I like that the mechanism is solid and the parts accessible for maintenance and, if desired, adaptation. The price point for the high quality mechanism is excellent.
