Edgewater Parts 2162044 & 2183400 Defrost Timer Replacement for Whirlpool Refrigerator - 8 Hour Timer - Perfect for Kitchen Appliance Repair and Maintenance

I had a Whirlpool refrigerator that would not defrost the ice box section. I read on-line how to replace the defrost timer. Then I watched an on-line video procedure to do the repair. It looked easy so I did it myself. It was not as easy as it looked in the video. The problem was that the old timer was secured on plastic posts with spring clips. The clips would not come off and I ended up breaking one of the plastic posts. I did get the other clip off but the plastic posts were too wide to fit through the mounting holes on the new timer. I had to cut off both plastic posts and drill new holes for the new timer. I was happy to see that the new timer came with new bolts and nuts. I mounted the new timer with the supplied bolts and completed the repair. It was a shame that all the effort and new part did not fix the refrigerator. I also had to replace the defrost thermostat in the ice box. Well at least the refrigerator has a new timer now.
