I don’t use this ingenious little pot for its intended purpose, but for small-scale DIY projects requiring a double-boiler, eliminating the need to stand at the kitchen stovetop while I work!I was using a different wax pot for the same purpose before, one with a built-in internal pot + removable silicone liner, but it was super bulky and only fit one 100ml beaker at a time. I got this as a replacement.The whole pot is uniquely & very easily removable from the hotplate — no mess or unplugging. It has way more volume & surface area on the bottom than other wax pots on the market, yet manages to take up way less space (it can fit up four 50ml beakers at a time! Pic shows one 50ml and one 100ml).To make a heat bath, I put about an inch of water into the silicone pot (avoiding getting any liquid on the hot plate), crank the dial up all the way, and place beakers full of waxes/butters/oils/etc in the water to warm.TEMP DISPARITY:The maximum temperature setting should be 130°C, according to the advert, instruction booklet, and the dial display.However, according to my candy thermometer, it can only warm water up to ~160°F/71°C with the lid on, or 130°F/54.4°C without. If you let it sit with the lid on for longer than 2hrs, it’ll creep a bit higher, but not by much. (For reference, water begins to simmer at 185°F/85°C and boils at 212°F.)This could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your use-case, but it’s unfortunate that the actual heating capabilities don’t match the advertised product information.I would knock off a star for that, but it works great for me, the design is uniquely brilliant, and it’s significantly safer than, say, using hotplate meant for cooking. Your body wax of choice might just melt more slowly than you hope.Overall, very glad I found it, and I hope to see more become available (e.g. hotter ones, different sizes, standalone silicone pots, etc.). :)
